Meaningful volunteer work

To be a good teacher is my dream. During january1st, 2009 to April 24th 2009, I was the member of the Sunlight Volunteer Club and I spent 10 hours in this club, I also learned a lot in this club. Sunlight Volunteer Club gives a chance to me and helps children in need, every times we went to there, they welcome to us and with their happy small face.
That day we went there with heavy rain, only five kids were come, they took their homework and textbook to here, my job was teach a Grade five child mandarin, In the beginning I think it is a piece of cake to a grade 10 student, I have confidence to taught that, but when the child asked the third question, I was thinking a long time, I did not answer the question, my face became red, I felt embarrassed, than I check my e-dictionary, I knew the answer at that time, I understood that as a Chinese, the important of Mandarin. After that they asked other questions, I always patient to him and answered his question. Afterwards, I taught a boy English, I thought my English level is not very bad, so I taught them easily, the boy are too laud, in the beginning, he did not asked one question and he told me that he understand all the knowledge they had learn, when I asked him some questions he did not know one of them, but I was patient to him and taught him a lot.
Another day, I came to there that is a sunny day, we decided to take them go outside play games, I asked the person who manage them, she allowed us take them to outside , also their parents are agree. Then we took them to KTV and have singing, we are arrived KTV, and they said that is the first time went to KTV, in the beginning, I thought they was afraid about their environment, but when we got into box, they was relaxed. We let them choose song first, but all of them were shy, they did not want to sing first, so only our classmates singing, but during us singing, they also singing with us, than we singing together, they became excited, and always grab the microphone with us.
One day, we went to East of Beijing Road Primary School near our school and taught Grade 5 students learned English, taught two girls, they study very hard, one of them is class monitor. This time, I taught them how to say and write country name, language and people in English, I think it is difficult for Grade 5 students. At last, they only can remember some of these.
This term, I was teaching some students, I think it is a meaningful activity, I was enjoy teaching from Volunteer Club, next time will keep doing volunteer work, and do more things and help others, I will let more people to join us, and tell them how meaningful it is.

Richard Clayderman concert

On December 30, 2008, my mother and I went to Nanjing WuTaishan and watched Richard Clayderman piano concert.
I remembered that day was parents’ meeting day, my mother and I finished parents’ meeting and went to their quickly. At 7; 30, he was emerge, the first music is <<>> that is one of my favorite music. I choose this concert because I had study play the piano for five years, I always want to watch Richard Clayderman piano concert, see what different between he and us. Luckily, he will come to Nanjing; of course I had watched that.
When I heard <<>> melody of piano, I felt I come in to an autumn fairy tale, warm and romantic. My favorite music is he reorganized <<>>; I like to see an aesthetic view in my eyes. Also my favorite link that he invited many children like 5 to10 years old to play<>that is famous Chinese music, the feeling of all surrounding was climax, most of audiences was clap their hands.
I felt so exciting and interesting, because my dream came true, I watched a high-quality piano concert, play the piano still my hobby I do not want to give up that. From that time, I played the piano everyday up to now, it can improve self-cultivation. I like to watch this kind of piano concert, also I admire Richard Clayderman, he has prefect piano skill, and I hope one day I also hold a concert like him.

Cook the chocolate cooks

On 11th April 2009, it is Saturday; I came to school and study how to cook, with my GCA teacher.
First, Ms Bartell divided into six groups, each group cooks different food; it has jello, cooks pudding and so on. I was divided in chocolate cooks group, I felt lucky, because I think the easy and delicious are cooks group. Our teacher is a French girl, she tough us how to make cooks, we bought all the things we need. First, we put the butter in the bowl, afterwards we use microwave oven make butter melted, than add all the sugar and beat the mixture, then add the egg and continue to beat the mixture, add the flour and the yeast. Beat again, cut the chocolate in little pieces and put it in the dough, mix. Make little heaps with the dough and put it in the oven (temperature of heating about 180oC). We saw that it is ready, put the cooks out of the oven, and then let them cool, we can eat it.
We ate the cooks and made it, it is delicious. This is first time I made cooks, when I go back to home I taught my classmates, like same way, we made more cooks and students and took to school, give teachers and students try it, most of them think that taste good. I was happy to hear that.

Go to church

On 26th April, 2009, my mother and I went to 396 Taiping Road, Nanjing St Paul’s church. Nanjing St Paul’s church is first Christianity church in Nanjing, the exterior use of Gothic architecture, the interior structure use of Chinese traditional framework, I went there at 11 am, the Christian told me that there are giving a English Christianity lecture, so I was going to the room.
The lecture started at 10; 30am, so I was late for 30m, I saw many of Christian sat in there, some of them are western, so I did not have seat to sit. I heard the person who stood in front of stage from western said something about Jesus, he had excited spoke with his body language, sometimes, he put up hands, sometimes, and he opened the Bible and read some sentences, sometimes, he asked Christian some question, Christian answered him, sometimes, as a leader leaded them singing and reading. Many of audience are Christian, they study follow the leader, open the Bible and reads something, I never come to church and join this kind of speech, and also I have something do not understand, like he said that Jesus’ cry…., but I known that he said people like house, car, money...if Jesus want you give up that, Would you like to do? It means the most important of us are not money, but is helping, only help others you can enjoy feeling happy, I like this kind of speech, I think it can washing heart. Afterwards, I know I was lucky that speaker was invited from western to interpretation Bible.

Last Saturday, I want to Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum with my classmates Ada and Cherry. It was one of Nanjing Foreign language students Ms Chen's calligraphy show. Originally, we want to go to Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall, but that day all NFLS students went to The Great Hall of the People and watched performance, we finished watching that and I saw Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum near Great Hall Of The People, so we all went to there visited.
We came to the museum, and saw lots of different style of calligraphy dazzled my eyes. I thought why did she has a lot of time to wrote so many beautiful calligraphy, she must spend more time to do that, I also saw a paragraphy wrote from NFLS principal Mr Dong, it wrote about this student, I was very admire her. My favourite calligraphy is wrote Long Live, Our Motherland in Chinese, it was celenrate China established sixty years.
I like this exhibition, because this exhibition shows artwork from our school, I feel pround of I am one of a NFLS student, and I was interested in calligraphy, so I did not felt boring about that. When we prepare to live, I found a special book, near that book has Chineses brush and Chinese ink, we asked the person who responsible that, he said we can write our name in this book, it represent you came to there. Then, we held the Chinese brush and wrote our name in it. That page has Ada Cherry and Annie's name, we turned front of this book, we found that we wrote was the worst writing, but we think that was intersting.

Eating in Round Table

Yesterday, my mother and I ate lunch in Round Table. Round Table was a western restaurant, located in Nangjing 1912 street, so it is easy to go to there.
We arrived there, and saw there was so many people waited, so we also waited about half hour. I opened the menu, it has eight varieties, i t include bread, salads, drink, soups, hight-eibre vegetables, meat, desserts, and beverages. Everyone can choose one of each of it. I think this can make you easy to order food. A little while, salad and soups was hold on the table, it looks colourful and very high nutrition. I tasted it, it was so delicious.
Next, I was tried to eat prawnt+ filles streak, they called it grand meal of ocean and land.There has cauliflower, maize and carota with my grand meal of ocean and land, looks great, I can not wait, I want to tasted it. First, I tried the beefstreak, it was not too hardened, that is good tasty, the prawnt was better than streak, it has sauce on it
The envirenment in there was good. When I came into Round Table, I saw a trangle piano, when I sat down, waiter took each person a flip, it make costomer felt emotional appearl. I also saw a woman with a foreigner went to there to eat, and there are many pair of lovers ate in there, so if you fall in love, that is a good place to eat. The cost was fifty nine each, that can admit.

My physical activity

I like sports, but in my middle school I was not good at sports, because my health was not very well. When I study in GCA, I often do some exercise. It makes I become healthier, so I often do some sports in my free time.
My favorite sport is ice skating, I usually go ice skating with my friends. On holiday, my friends and I went to Olympic sports center and goes ice skating. That afternoon, in the skating rink, it did not have people to play, but we saw a coach was teaching his student, that student is a boy about five years old, I looked I was surprised, he is younger than me a lot, but he is play better than me a lot. We went inside of skating rink. At first, I could not to adapt, but when I slide first round, I can suit for this ice and the skating shoes. I was afraid about maybe I could fall down because I knew they also can play ice skating very well. We looked around, there was not have people, we thought we can play well. In that day, we have a lot of fun, we did not see each of us fall down and we also do exercise a lot.
Everyone has different ways to spend time on holiday or weekend. On January 27th, my family and I went to Zijing Mountain in the afternoon. There did not have a lot of people. I thought the weather was very cool, so I can go climbing to make I body warmer. I breathe fresh air and made I felt relaxed. In the beginning, I was very enjoy for climbing mountain, but after I felt a little bit tired, my father encouraged me, and I can keep going. In the mouton road, we can enjoy beautiful scenery around us. Climbing mountain, I learned a lot, it can help me to build up my endurance and it's helpful to me in my studies. I also can get close to nature, when I reach the top of the mountain I can enjoy the scenery of the city that we live in.
I also like play badminton; I always play badminton with my parents about once a week. This afternoon, I played badminton with my mother and my cousin in the yard. Although we did not go to Olympic sports center, but we also have a lot of fun. We decided to have a match, first, I VS my cousin, I won this game easily, because I am good at playing badminton, but my cousin did not like play it, so I am very happy. Next, I VS my mother, my mother play badminton wonderful! I always lost, I felt disheartened and I did not have energy to keep going, but my mother encouraged me. Although I keep going to finish my competition, I did not win this competition, because I met a good opponent.
Doing sports activities are not only good for health, but also have a lot of fun, so let me do some exercise.

Volunteer work

As volunteer club, I also did some volunteer work in society. Because of volunteer club, I like to help others. This also is a different point between Chinese school and Western school. In the life time, we must do some volunteer work. Do some volunteer work not only helping others but also can give us new experience and learned new skill. In these two terms I worked in two groups, one is volunteer for GCA Drama Show The Taming of The Shrew and watched the play, another is helped my mother unit to tape words.
In the end of this year, GCA had played a Drama Show called The Taming of The Shrew. Although I am not play in this play, but I did some useful things in this play show. Before the show played one month, I helped them to prepared stage properties. That Saturday many of our classmates came to school art room helped. I also checked the show tickets before the GCA Drama Show the Taming of The Shrew begin. That day, I came to there very early and took scissor and waited for Miss Chan said it is time for open the doors. I saw many GCA students came watched, so I was very busy to cut the tickets. I also went inside watched the play. I saw some stage properties are we made in that day, I was very happy about saw that. I try my best to help this play.
During this winter holiday, I finished my volunteer work in my mother’s unit. One day, I asked my mother what I can do in her unit. My mother answered just at the right time, she wrote a play of this year, I can help her tape it. I was replied, tomorrow, I came to my mother’s office. I saw many of my mother’s colleague, they looks very busy maybe they were writing their year plan. I was sit in front of computer; my mother gave her year plan. Over twenty minutes, I finished taped. At this time, my mother came into and asked me do you have time to help my colleague tape? I also replied. Next, I help them to tape theirs year plan. I think this work not only can help them to finish their work, but also can make my tape speed go faster. In May, we have provincial exam, in provincial exam, we can not write, we only could use computer to tape. So, I think this is a good time to help to help me to practice my tape skill. In that three days I worked in my mother’s unit for eight hours and my mother’s colleagues thank for me to help them, they hope I often come to there.
From my volunteer work, I learned a lot about taping and how to communicate with others, I also knew we must try best and pay our effort, that I can do good job and make overtone happy. I love my volunteer work.

GCA club life

This is first year that we study in GCA, about GCA we had find out many different things between Chinese school and Western school. The very important thing is in Western school that has many different clubs, such as badminton, volunteer, drama and so on. In the beginning, we did not realize those clubs, but through grade 11 and grade 12 students introduced, I understood that is very important to be as fully engaged in my high school life. In abroad universities and colleges also has many different clubs.
Although GCA has many different clubs makes me see things in a blur, there has a very meaningful club I want to join, this is volunteer clubs, also this club is recommend by grade 11 and grade 12 students. This year about half of grade 10 GCA students joined this clubs. Volunteer clubs was divided by three groups, are charity work, help blind people and help pets. I joined charity work group, if you joined this group you must joined Nanjing charity society, so I am a member of Nanjing charity society, I have a card for Nanjing charity society.
During this process I gained a lot from volunteer club. There are some benefits for join this club. First, we have a lot of fun while helping other. In the Saturday, I taught many poor primary school students with my friends we played games together; also we taught knowledge for them. Next, I got new experiences; I never did that in my middle school, which is only having in GCA. Finally, I learned effective communicating skill. I recognized many students from other class, also I recognized lovely children and we became friend and we have a lot of fun with each other.
This club let me knot me know help other can make me happy and joyful. Every time I saw that children smile on theirs face, my hearts also feel warm. Volunteer club become more and stronger, so there has more people to join us to help helpless people. It is not only helping others but also can give us new experience.
In volunteer club, we not only taught primary school students, but also we joined a big charity show. In a Saturday morning, our entire group member came to Shanxi to help this charity show and donation money. We wore red cloth and red hat took a big donate box, ask pedestrian. That day we donated a lot of money that we could not count, also it make me know a lot. I saw many children asked their parents to donate, but I also heard many people said “no” to us, that are different between people and people.
This half year, I still work in volunteer club and prepared help more and more people and let people and people to join us do some meaningful things.

The Westuren Restaurant----Tacos

On the twentieth of December, most of our classmates went Tacos on the Zhujiang Road to have dinner with the grade 12 students.
Tacos is Mexico restaurant. I had been there with my mother. This time, I ate dinner with my so many classmates, which were my first time ate dinner with my classmate.
I came to Tacos at 5:30, everybody almost has arrived there. When I walked in to Tacos I saw my friends Ada, Cherry and Helen, I sat with them..Then we took the menu and ordered we ate. I ordered Rice with Baked chicken and Cheese and a cup of Ice Coffee, because there has Taco’s symbol in there, it means this is feature in Tacos.
There were so many students in there, so it looks messy, we did not have enough tableware and even my food sent to another table, so I waited for a long time,
I ate those food and think it taste so-so, but I like this restaurant because I like there environment and we had good memory in there.

Nanjing University ART EXHIBITION

Yesterday, our class went to the Institute of sculpture Art of Nanjing University. We saw lots of sculptures. There are two kinds of art being shown. Most are Chinese famous people another kind is about joy of life. It all by famous artist Wu Weishan, except one sculpture. For this one his teacher Xing Bingming and Wu Weishan worked together. Most artworks are contemporary. It was contemporary.
In the institute of Nanjing, I saw lost of sculptures. It makes my eyes confused; However, I was intested in a sculpture that I first saw. It is a sculpture called "Lao Zi"
Lao Zi was made in about 2002 by WuWeishan, The artist uses mud to make this, and then his assistant based on this to use copper make this. Lao Zi is one of person in Chinese history. He is very famous people. It is about 3m high, but the strange thing that was in middle of the artwork is empty. Inside of that are curved many words that he wrote about Taoism. One of LaoZi's hands paints at the sky, another points at the ground, looks quiet.
Lao Zi makes we feel quiet. He closed his eyes. He closed his eyes one of his hands point at sky, another points at ground. It makes me think about what he wrote about Taoism. The main I idea is theory that man is an integral part of nature First, I saw this artwork, I was thinking about why was the middle of the artwork are empty, what is it inside? I came into the inside. That was carved many Chinese old words. The artwork looks thinking about something, it remind me think about an artwork is Thinker, it made by Rodin. They all think about something but one is Chinese old man, another is western young man.
The artist intention is hope people like Lao Zi erudite inward and full of learning.
I like the artwork "Lao Zi”, becanse I think it is different from other. Other artworks have a person sitting or standing there, and are not special, but this artwork is not commonly. This artwork full of lots of deep ideas and makes people think something about old China. It makes me understand a lot about hoe to do. To be human must kind hearted, that is human's realm and erudite inward and full of learning.
